Radio Shack sucks

March 5, 2005

Well, I think I’m finally done with Radio Shack. Ugh. This place has really made me angry.

Anyway, I’ll let my letter to the Regional Manager do the talking.

03.04.05

Dear (Regional Manager):

I am writing to voice my disappointment in the company, and in particular, of the S. Western Ave. store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, regarding the purchase and further inquiries of the Sirius Orbiter receiver and boom box.

On December 31st, 2004, my wife and I, who were shopping for Sirius satellite radios, stopped into Radio Shack, looking for some information and, quite possibly, to purchase some product. We were helped by the night staff, and had what we thought was a pretty pleasant experience. The clerk told us that we would be very happy with the Sirius Orbiter, and that the one they had on the shelf was the last one in stock. We were looking to take advantage of a rebate that was effective until December 31st, and we liked the idea of having the boom box attachment for camping and home use. We asked about the car docking station as well, and were assured that we would be able to get one in a few weeks.

The next day we went into the store to ask some questions about setting up our antenna. The first thing we noticed is that there was another Orbiter receiver on the shelf – meaning, of course, that the one we had purchased was not really the last one in stock.

Two weeks later, we entered another Radio Shack (E 12th St) and inquired about the availability of the Orbiter docking station. Boy, were we surprised when the clerk told us that, in fact, they were out of stock and quite possibly out of production! A few days later, I went back to the S. Western Ave. store and asked about the car docking kit. The clerk told me that they were not in, and when I asked about whether or not they were even going to be in stock ever again, he said that it was quite possible, and that they were switching to another model. I gave him my name and told him to give me a call when the docking station came in.

Around the beginning of February, after not hearing from any Radio Shack store (we had our name in at both of the stores mentioned,) I decided to call the store where we had purchased our receiver. I spoke with Derek, the store manager, explained how we had purchased the Orbiter under the belief that we would be able to get a car docking station. He explained that they were very difficult to get, and were, in fact, not being made anymore. I was offered the chance to return my Orbiter and boom box and instead get the newest Radio Shack model (with home and car docks), which unfortunately didn’t work because we not only wanted the boom box (the main reason we purchased the Orbiter in the first place) but also we would also be charged a $50.00 per Sirius to transfer our subscription to a new receiver. I asked what Derek could do to get me a car docking station, and he said he would look around to other stores.

After a week of no response, I called again, and was told that he would be speaking with you, his District Manager, and would explain my situation. Over three weeks later, I still had heard no response, and when I called again on March 4th, I was told that he was still not able to get any in stock, and instead offered me a refurbished car docking station – but was given no time line as to when it would be available, if it would be available at all.

I feel that Radio Shack has really pulled the wool over the eyes of a lot of loyal customers. I’ve been shopping with the company for 10 years, and to find that, among other things, the clerks misled, and at times lied, to us about what was available for the Orbiter, the management seemed in no hurry to help resolve any of my problems, and that the company as a whole was actively promoting a product that was nearly obsolete (which is evident by advertisements and signs hailing the affectability of the Orbiter at the end of January, when it was already known that it was no longer going to be produced) all comes to me as a big shock.

Even more troubling is that the satellite radio package we purchased only two months ago is now unable to be replaced, and to find compatible Orbiter products, such as any docking stations or replacement antennas, is downright impossible.

I am incredibly disappointed in the staff at the S. Western Ave. Radio Shack, in the management, and in the company itself for not letting us, as customers, know the true status of the investment we were considering. You have lost loyal customers in me, my wife, and everyone else who hears of our experience.

Sincerely,
Corey Vilhauer

Edit - I’ve had lots of comments on this post over the past two years, and now realize that most people who search “Radio Shack Sucks” come here and think this was the end of it. It wasn’t - the situation was resolved respectfully and both sides came away feeling better.

I never was much of a Radio Shack fan. Most of the stuff I buy from there breaks and is overpriced in the first place. Plust they keep trying to sell me a cell phone. I have one. Get off it.

Fool. You knew since the Funco days of the debauchery and deceit that goes on under the veil of Radio Sack (sic) commerce. Ever since that craphole started asking for your name and address to buy batteries it has gone downhill.

I work at RadioShack and let me go ahead and tell you, dont beleive anything anyone here tells you. I am probably the most honest person RadioShack employs, mainly b/c I hate this company so much. If a customer comes in wanting coax cable, I’ll show them where it is, but tell them its 3 dollars cheaper at Wal-Mart. I don’t ask people about cell phones, b/c I figure if they want a cell phone, theyll ask about one. HELL, THEY ARE ALL OVER THE STORE. RadioShack is the most pushy company I have ever worked for. They get off on getting on the customers nerves. They knew that the Orbitor was going to be obsolete after December, which is why it was so low priced. They were pushing us to lie to customers about it. I had a customer come in asking about one, told her the best thing to do was wait 2 months for the new model and to buy it at Best Buy, where she would get better customer service.

If you have any more questions or want more dirt on the company, e-mail me at kcwhitten@yahoo.com

You and every other stupid customer that walks in the door makes me laugh. You are all idiots. You have positively ZERO understanding of the business world- and it shows in your stupid behavior which is what we joke about all day.

    Lets break it down:

    1) You want to shop on price. Fine. Go order online from India- and when you realize you couldn’t hook up a boombox to an outlet, shut the f*ck up. You made your choice.

    2) You want ‘Walmart” prices, but you want a personal assistant with you every step of the way. Take your pick, asshole. Nothing in life is free. Who wants to listen to your clueless bullshit anyway?

    3) You want an organization that is flawless and attends your every need and actually gives a damn when you order some stupid part that was discontinued a month after it was released. Ok,nobody gives a fuck. For minimum wage? Do you think anybody cares? We make money when we sell, we don’t care what the hell your problem is.
We’re trying to live too, and it doesn’t work.

    4) So why do we work for the shitty organization in the first place when so much grand opporunity is available in this great country of ours? Just wait buddy, your job is next. Then you can listen to other idiots yourself.

Go shop somewhere else and f*ck off.

Thanks, friend. Those are some big words. A little angry and defensive, but big all the same.

I’ve worked in retail myself for many years, and it’s stuff like this that just shows how ridiculous your company is — your contempt for the very people who help pay you.

I’m glad you added your name to this. I hope your supervisor sees it. I’m sure he’d be really happy to see how you’re helping the brand name out.

I’m not sure if you read my post at all, since I didn’t mention wanting a cheap system at all — I wanted a quality system and was willing to spend extra to get it. However, there’s a fine line between having a company tell you that the system you are buying will serve you well for years and having a company actually follow through with it.

From the number of complaints I’ve seen with the Better Business Bureau on Radio Shack, I’ve come to the conclusion that either “the Shack’s” practices are deceptive or that they really just don’t care. Neither is very admirable.

Remember — it’s US that helps you keep YOUR job. We’re the customers, and without us, you’d be working in a factory somewhere. Think about that the next time you decide to “make fun” of someone coming in the store. It doesn’t really sound like you even LIKE your job — so I’m kind of confused as to why you’d argue for it. But that’s neither here nor there.

So thanks for that. I am shopping somewhere else. Judging by the fact that Radio Shacks are doing poorly around the nation, it seems that everyone else is as well.

    I appreciate your comments, Frank.

Corey like you I purchased a Orbiter during Christmas thru Radio Shack. About 3 weeks later the antenna quit working on my car docking station. My wife had purchased the 3 year warranty so off to the Shack I went to get a new antenna only to find out they discontinued the product. So here I was with a new car and home docking system and no receiver compatible with them. He told me to come back in a week and he will “special order” the antenna. Week went by I came back and said if it had arrived. Not yet, I said Buddy I’m paying for something I’m not getting, what are we going to do? I told him I’ll returned the complete system and give me the new model “Sportser”
I eventually got an antenna but pray no part will break since they discontinued the Orbiter. It is a better receiver since it’s larger and easy to read the stations. I have found a receiver for the boom box listed under Google called a Brix, check it out. Radio Shack forgot them, Sirius rules

It is ignorant ranting crap like this website and fucking retarded complaints about products people know nothing about that make me hate serving people like you. You and all like you who expect the sales world to go all out to find your fucking retarded lightbulb for your fucking dumbass two dollar flashlight that make the job suck. TRUST ME when i say that we have no problem telling you all the info on the new system or even where to get it cheaper. That isnt the problem. It is dumbasses like you who dont act like a real person should in public that is the problem. I have had tons of people say I am increadibly helpfull and I have spent hours helping people out when i dont exactly have to help out. I go that extra mile for those that treat me civily (i.e. like a normal person. If you want good service treat people with respect or don’t be suprised when you dont get any back.

Oh and if you don’t get it yet. No matter how much you rant and how much you rave. No matter how much you THINK your opinion matters. You can say whatever the fuck you want to whomever you’d fucking like to. But at the end of the day radioshack is still a live company. With thousands of stores all over the U.S. So take your crybaby parts drawer shit and shove it up your ass because no one cares.

    Fuck you

This comment was a little late. I love that.

    By the way:
    1. I used to work in retail. Your job is to help customers. Or, at least, that’s what your company would like you to do.

    2. I now work in marketing. I have a feeling your company would flip shit after hearing your comments. You’re undermining everything they stand for as far as customer service.

    3. No. My opinion isn’t going to change anything. I never meant it to. Duh.

    4. When did I ever treat anyone with any lack of respect? I expect a service when I go to a retail store. I expect the truth. I expect them to go above and beyond, to do whatever it takes to keep my business. Others don’t. And that’s fine. That’s the reason customer service has constantly gone down over the past 20 years.

At the end of the day, Radio Shack is still a live company. Yup. But not one that I respect. And not one that will ever threaten the leaders in the industry. When you move out of your parents’ basement, you’ll understand that.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a parts drawer to shove up my ass. So I can’t give you that satisfaction. But thank you for your disjointed, poorly spelled, year-and-a-half late comment. I’ll remember this when I go to Radio Shack.

Oh. Wait. That was a lie. I’ve alredy forgotten.

Man, as a radioshack employee I’m honestly very sorry that you got bad customer service. What happened to you really tarnishes the company name and almost makes me ashamed to work here.

However, I’m -not- ashamed because I can honestly say that not every radioshack is the same. I mean, not to toot my own horn or anything, but if you came to the radioshack where I work, I would’ve asked you if price was your main concern. If you said yes, then of course I’d sell you the cheapest one I had. But afterwards if you mentioned you wanted an accessory that was discontinued, I’d ask my manager if we could get it sent to you directly. Why? More money in my pocket, and my manager would say to me afterwards, “you just gained a loyal customer; congratulations, Staz.”

So don’t give up on us just yet! If your district manager does his job, the people who messed you up will get in big trouble, and hopefully you’ll have a better experience with us next time. :D

Ok I worked for Radio Shack and I will tell you this, all the problems come from the corporate offices in Texas. The stick it to the employees on a daily basis, and the only people the like to screw over more are there customers. The ram “warranties” down employee’s throats, we had quotas. Let me tell you all of the “radio Shack’ warranties suck the manufacturer warranty are sufficient. Radio Shack sell crap so the have little intention of standing behind said crap.
And those fools in Texas try to convince employees customers love giving out their names, addresses, and telephone numbers for every little purchase in the day and age of Identity theft. The dont give a damn about their employees and even less about their customers

  18. spirit030 on November 8th, 2007 106 pm

I work at a Radioshack and I know that you will get a different experience with different people. Asking for the names and addresses does help the customer. If you lose your reciept and want to return something the receipt can be located by your name. Radioshack provides training to our associates to better serve our customers and in my store if you need something and I have to go to another store to get it I will. I will admit that some members of the Radioshack team members have walked and may still on a very fine between truth and fiction to sell products. I don’t agree with it, but I do address it and use the proper channels to deal with it instead of running down the company and everyone that is employeed with them. People tend to remember the bad experiences and forget the good ones. No one is perfect and no company is either. We as a company have made some changes internally and externally. Judge us on what we are doing to fix the problem. We are in retail and our job is sales, but our first priority is our customers. Radioshack is very aware that without our customer there is no Radioshack.
On the same note, the associates in the store have no control over the prices of our items and cannot change them. If you are unhappy with the price, then there are other places to purchase your item. Please stop taking it out on the associates! It is not there fault! If you need a helpful sales associate and are willing to spend a little more come to Radioshack and we will be more than happy to supply the products and the knowledge. If you are looking for a clerk and a cheap product you will have to replace more than once go to Wal-mart or Kmart or the Dollar Store. They will be happy to ring you up.

The funny thing about stories like this is, in the end the upset customer is usually left with the idea “I’m never shopping at [any store] every again” and sometimes they don’t and sometimes they do. But I think people should take into consideration that it’s THAT store that’s the problem. I’ve worked in a few different electronics stores for the same company and I’ve noticed a huge difference in atmosphere and staff quality based on the people that work there and the managers.

You could go to one Radio Shack for example and get terrible service, but a different Radio Shack and get excellent service. I think the thing that needs to be addressed is the lack of integrity at THAT Radio Shack store. Of course we have to take into consideration the Company policy such as: Offer cell phones to every customer that comes in, even if they have one; offer batteries to EVERYBODY, even if they’re already buying batteries, offer them MORE batteries; etc.

  20. mel on January 6th, 2008 1239 am

I used to do compliance audits at Radio Shack, and I would not reccomend anyone shop there. They spend tons of money keeping up their neat appearance. I found most of the associates extrememly pompous and annoying. And whenver I gave them their audit scores, they would argue with me and try to get me to change it. I had one manager throw down the audit and yell at me, and then all his teenager associates rallied around him and joined hands together in mutual hatred towards me, their auditor because week after week they would leave empty dr. pepper cans and boxes of chinese food in their stock room. I got so sick of watching these annoying children argue with customers, and talk down to them, and try to weedle them into cell phone deals they didnt need (they get paid bonuses to sign people up for cell phone deals). I can’t wait for Radio Shack to be defunct. I will spit on their grave.

  21. jon on February 26th, 2008 1206 pm

Look dude…I’m gonna be honest with you. I worked at radioshack for like nine months. I’ve dealt with dozens of customers who were in your situation. But here’s the thing: you are an asshole. I’d be willing to bet that you never once thought of ordering the stupid docking station on line before you went ahead with bothering a radioshack store that has already told you they don’t have any and won’t have any for weeks. I also don’t believe you actually waited weeks before bothering them again asking for the same product. You think the poor guys working there want to deal with you coming in for more fucking info on something you already bought? Dude if you have questions about how to fuck with your sirius radio, call sirius. don’t bother the fucking guys who sold the piece of shit to you. And if you had even half a brain, you would know that sirius and xm radio service is a fucking scam and their products are faulty pieces of trash. I can’t tell you how many times I had to dig into those boxes and replace parts that were meant to charge the unit but instead caught fire in people’s cars. The people working at radioshack are miserable and the people shopping there are too. Just so you know, they live off those sales. everything is comission with a minimum wage base pay. The guy who sold you your radio probably made a grand total of 3 dollars for selling that stupid radio to you and probably gives a grand total of zero fucks as to your ability to use it to your liking. You seem like a nice guy, but get a fucking clue. radioshack employees don’t care about you. if you write a letter to corporate saying you’re pissed off because you got the run around, you’re just a dunce. you dummy dumb dunce motherfucker. Don’t shop there unless you want a cell phone. that’s the way the organization works. get a fucking ipod already and start using podcasts…stop fucking with satelite radio its just a scam and radioshack doesn’t give a fuck what assumption you were under when you bought their shit. fact is, you are stupid and probably waited over a month to try to return the shit because you were too stupid to call sirius or ebay that fucking docking station thus making your product actually useful by your standards. instead, you got a piece of shit radio that only works under certain stipulations and youre fucked because you are a moron…but you sound like a nice guy.

  23. Mike on February 28th, 2008 1143 am

Ok RadioShack is a retail store… They try to sell you sell you stuff…duh. What’s wrong. They hire sales people who lead you to believe you should buy a product..? DUH. they try to sell you cell phones because they make crazy profit off of it. DUH.

Before buying anything you should take the time to do the research yourself. Why rely on the information that somone is giving you when he has incentive to sell it?

  24. Corey Vilhauer on February 28th, 2008 241 pm

Why is this thread so popular again?

See, my issue isn’t that I’m surprised it happened - I’ve worked in retail, I understand the landscape. My issue is that it’s “accepted” and that I should just get over it when something like this happens.

When do companies get the right to employ an “ends justify means” sales policy? Shouldn’t they be concerned about how that makes their brand look?

It’s not the action that bothers me. It’s the assumption that no one will care - or that they even should in the first place.

That’s all. Now, there’s two years worth of newer posts - why don’t you guys go check those out? ;)

  25. Jim Mutdosch on March 6th, 2008 914 pm

I use to work at radio shack. I agree with jon but without the language but I bet that was used for effect. But basically he is 100% correct. I wanted to like that place when I worked there but the way they make all the employees work aginst each other I never liked. I thought it should be teamwork. Also when I started there I was making more money then when I quit 2 years later. They changed the way you made extra money selling extended warranties. If your whole store didn’t sell so many you would get zero extra money. Thats when I stopped ever pushing the warranties. And I ahted asking for name and phone number. Espcially now adays who wants to give out there personal info. I just chring when I have to go in there to buy something..which I had to the other day..They asked for my name instead of my phone number…and address..oh year thats an improvement…not. And he asked if I had a cell phone. I agree if I want to buy something I will inquire…don’t push crap on me. I hate salesman. Thats why I don’t goto car dealships..I buy from autotrader or private sellers. I wish we had a walmart auto dealer..>They would always get my business. I think these salesman need to die..If they were genuine and wasn’t out to make money I would like to go there…but all these places work on commision and you can tell..And it creates a bad shopping experiance at least for me. That is why I love walmart. Cheap prices and no one bothering you and you can ask for help if you need it.

  26. Shack Wife on March 7th, 2008 242 am

I have to tell you my story. For more years than I care to count, my husband had a mistress. Her name was Radio Shack. He was a loyal “company man”. Some time later he became a manager. Worked anywhere from 96-104 hrs per week. Yes, he really was at the Shack - I could show up there any time unannounced and he would be there. He never took a vacation. In the beginning of his tenure there, he really believed that this effed up company would lead him to the career of his dreams. Yeah, I thought he was a big geek and the Shack sold crap but for a while it put food on our table. My husband was always and had been for the last few years the top selling manager in his district. You can say that the Big Boys over in the Ivory Tower (Fort Worth) didn’t like the managers from a particular state anymore (seeing as they sued them for back pay). So they started to get rid of the Senior Managers. Over these many years, I saw and watched as district and regional managers went after these men and women. I watched as Loss Prevention raided offices and threatened to come into your home to find stolen merchandise. I saw how they gave impossible goals for the manager to reach on only 40 hrs (managers of this state were no long allowed to work long hrs). Oh yes, these guys can only work 40 hrs/wk. I watched as they gave weekly audits and didn’t pass these people for bullshit reasons. Then I watched as my husband would go for a take over inventory while the manager didn’t know they’d lost their store let alone job. I never thought these sons of bitches would do this to my hard working man. Yes LP threatened to come to our house and ransack it. We opened our doors and the pu$$ies backed down. I watched as they stripped him of his name badge and put him on “admin leave” saying they would call him to let him know what was going on. I knew the next day they would be going through his office and replace him with a new and less capable boy. This is what I witnessed year after year. I already knew what would happen. Wanna no something? They didn’t even have the cajones to call him and tell him he didn’t have a job. He had to call them and ask for his last check and his vacation pay. Don’t tell me that my husband had it coming. Don’t tell me he must not have been doing his job. #1 Sales Manager in his district. What the district manager doesn’t know or isn’t sure of is that several Senior Managers in his district have files of his correspondences to them and proof of his failure in his ability to run his district. This poor man is merely a puppet of his own Regional Manager. This is shortened story of what Radio Slack does to their employees. I don’t care if anyone sees this and figures out whose wife wrote it. I had to have a voice for a man who gave his energy, care, and life to a company who could give a shit how they treat their employees

  27. jaboba on April 28th, 2008 1137 pm

The real reason radio shack sucks is that they offer almost nothing but pre-built consumer garbage. Back in the day, the store was a great place to find parts for home-built projects. Now everything they sell is standardized parts to fit standardized consumer crap which doesn’t do half of what I need it to. The only place for us is online now, and it’s very sad. Radio Shack, indeed. They might as well change their name to Crap Shack, because that’s all you’re gonna find there.

  28. Tim on July 4th, 2008 155 pm

Sir, I work for Radio Shack. If we dont sell expensive crap we dont get paid……Radio Shack sells crap and there so called replacement plans are just like throwing your money in the trash. Radio Shack should always be your last resort.

  29. Employee on August 5th, 2008 156 pm

As a RadioShack employee, Id like to begin by saying I apologize for every ones experience… I know first hand how embarrassing of a company RadioShack is. I’m a college student who reluctantly works part time at this so called fortune 500 business. Its true, we are groomed to be as pushy as possible. Especially with cell phones. In fact they have now started these “non-negotiable” appearances where they show up to monitor whether or not we are using a new process called H2O. In this process, it is demanded that we intitiate a cell phone conversation with each and every customer that comes in no matter what it is they are purchasing. If we are caught not doing so we are fired on the spot.

They are also very pushy with service plans they offer. The sales on these service plans are low and they blame us in saying that we are not “pitching the sale” correctly. We are constantly forced to watch videos that are very childish and yuppie sh!! We are also forced to take test that are down right insulting to a human beings intelligence. In these test we are congratulated with our correct answer with a pop up screen that exclaims “Great Job.” As if the test was being taken by a second grade student.

Please, to anyone who shops at RadioShack, realise that us so called “sales associates” are a product of poor training and hand forced actions. We are severely under paid, under appreciated, and are constantly being forced to push the envelope with our customer to get as much money out of the sales process as possible. We are by no means experts. The company hires any old person off the streets and throws them out to the wolves for a feeding. Then, when everything fails and sales start to fall, the point their finger and say shame on us for not getting enough of your money.

Trust me, we don’t sell you worthless products by choice. Its because we either do so or find another job!!!

    Thank You For Your Time!!!

  30. Employee 2 on September 10th, 2008 230 am

I can believe all the stuff that’s being said here. I don’t like how radioshack treats their employees. It sucks to be a sales associate because you get the brunt of all the BS that the company does to the customers. At times you really want to help your customers, but the restrictions of this company is ridiculous. Personally we DO NOT get paid well enough to deal with the tedious nonsense that runs within this company. We’re forced to jump in your face. To give you an idea, We’re like sharks and as a customer you’re a fat delicious fish that we all want a piece of. So it whoever comes to you first and rips you a new one. I promise you, we don’t really want to jump at you like that but we ARE focused to. That’s how we get paid.

Wow I feel bad for all your bad experiences at Radio Shack. I kinda agree with employees 1 and 2 I also work at radio shack I mean it may seem like some sales associates are pushy at times but like they said that is how we get paid. Please don’t bash the whole company, some associates Ive noticed are truly nice people who want to try and help you I personally will not lie to my customers to make a sale it seems to work better that way for the both of us.Employee 1&2 seems like you feel like you are not paid enough, its all about how you approach people I normally have a take home pay of at least 400.00 a week just be honest with customers, H20 does work if used correctly, mind you it seems a little silly but they are trying to help you help them make money, in turn you make money. Customers give us a break we deal with some pretty rotten people all day,so its hard we try to help as best we can well at least my crew does. We want you to come back ask more questions and what not but you shouldn’t judge an entire company by just a few employees remember there are over 6000 stores at least 5 employees a store so… 30,000 employees you are going to deem pushy, unhelpful, liars, etc. I don’t think that is fair to people like me and my crew, visit my radio shack to see if you’d like, Palisades Mall, New York.

honestly i have been working for this company for 2 years, if theres one thing i have to say for the sake of your purchase, is just dont shop there. one reason being is we get paid like crap so were all completely un-motivated, the scumbags pay us depending on your states minimum wage, which just shows how greedy this company can be. please dont blame the emoployees, its the idiots up at the headquarters in texas who spend all this money on useless advertisement and never share any with there employees, which turns them all rotten (including me but im not that bad). i mean my 15 year old neighbor makes more then me working at mcdonalds. the only thing thats OK about the job is the (lmao) 2.75% in commission. which dosnt mean shit until you start selling over $75 an hour, and certain stores only get maybe 2 customers an hour with a full staff of 4 trying to fight over who gets the $12 sale. the really big thing for us is the cellphones, we can make up to 30 bucks however the economy sucks credit checks are denying like crazy and no one wants or needs a post paid cellphone plan, and even if the economy was good i only usually do about 1 or 2 cellphones a month mainly because i dont lie to my customers the way they want me to. thats right, those assholes wanted me to exxlcude the fact that if you purchase a repair plan you have to ship out out from your house rather then bring it to the store. F that, my customers have a right to know what there buying. oh and believe me, its not the first time they have told me to lie to my customers. as for the customer, be careful what you buy there. walking into a radioshack is like playing lotto, each one makes there own rules and are a bit different. ive seen store re-sell returned merchandise, sometimes even product that has limitted supply like compressed air or lcd cleaner. keep in mind the employees work off “commission’ and the manager works off of store sales and makes a bonus depending on how good he does. if a product gets returned and it cant be repaired, the employee looses the sale and the manager looses the product but not if they put it back on the shelf and try to make it look as unbought as possible. the company is so unorganized and so unprofessional it makes a sweat shop in the far corners of iraq seem like a more well benifitting job. as for the other electronics businesses like best buy and circuit city, atleast they get the job done right and they dont lie to there customers and they wont sell you returned merchandise for they have a strict rule for all of those. in fact, its gotten to the point where i dont even care about commission because it hardly makes a difference, so i just tell my customers best buy or circuit city has it cheaper, which most of the time they do. if you value your purchase, you will not shop at radioshack. and radioshack, if you are reading this, if you value your company youll start thinking less about your dms and area vps and more about actual employees (you know, the ones BEHIND the counter and not a desk crunchin numbers) if you continue to pay us like shit, were just gonna turn the company into shit. and belive me, im way ahead of you.
