Well, as long as we're talking about the movie, I'd like to mention a couple more things about it. Its B+W crispness, its starkness, was absolutely gorgeous. The cinemetography was flawless, and the soundtrack was equally as crisp. I surely hope it NEVER gets re-made by anyone for ANY amount of money. The touching moment near the end when Scout's brother is lying in bed with the broken arm and the shy Boo Bradley is hiding behind the door is very, very beautiful. You may notice that it's a yound Robert Duvall that played Boo. Now I guess I'll have to pull out the videotape myself tonight....

Hey, there's no problems with the movie -- I haven't seen it since high school and need to pick it up at the library.

Go Peck!

Corey, You don't know me, and I just pop in once in a while to read your impressive thoughts on your extensive interest in books...I just want to say thanks for writing about To Kill a Mockingbird. I was in honors classes in high school and so I didn't need to read this book which had been assigned to the 'regular students', yet for some reason I felt compelled to read it the following year on my own. How glad I am that I did. It's remained number one on my list for my entire life! I don't in any way wish to pollute your marvelous words with mention of the motion picture, but that picture was so dead-on accurate to the book that it apparently had Harper Lee in tears on the movie set (when she first saw Gregory Peck as her father). As a film buff of B+W movies, I'd say the movie is one of the best of all time as well. Again, thanks for writing a bit about this timeless book.
