I had to start somewhere
March 5, 2006
Well, I thought this would be kinda fun.
If anyone wants to experience a true piece of “Vilhauer Web Page Design,” look no further than this: my first web page for the Sioux Falls hardcore band Floodplain.
It’s a Geocities site, and it’s pretty bland, but it’s still there — fully operable.
I searched around for my first personal writing site with the incredibly emo name “…prying” but it is no longer around. That one was created on The Globe, a now defunct free website company. Apparently, they sell cell phones or something.
Anyway, this was me at the ripe age of 19. I convinced my roommate Joel, the turkey farmer and total computer dork (meaning he was a dork with a computer, not that he was competent with it), to purchase a scanner so I could scan the fliers. He somehow thought he’d actually use a scanner, but he never did. I was the only person to use it.
Yup.
Come to think of it, this site is about as creative as the first BMOWP site I had.
None more black. Memories.

ahh joel, what the hell was that crap he was all into? something like the realm of pern.
why didn’t you keep in touch with that guy?
also, why the fuck is my den of the dead website gone? boo. i was just reading the guestbook on the floodplain site and it’s pretty funny. but the funniest thing i found is this…look at the guest book and scroll about halfway down until you see a message that starts with this “Or what else corey??? any way you talked about your page on mine. so here goes” ok now go to THAT person’s website. it’s a site dedicated to that warren guy from empire records. read all of it my favorite warren guy quote posted is “cool ranch doritos are a good snack” from 1997 blur magazine. make sure to read the how to be a punk page then check out the guestbook for the huge, lame fight. it’s so long i couldn’t get through all of it, but i laughed and cried, a lot. remember how dumb the inny-net used to be?
Yeah. Pern. Ugh.
Joel ended up being too cool for me anyway. He never went to class — he was a nerd who didn’t study enough to be a nerd. He didn’t sign up for classes for his second year and was never heard from again.
And that website? Yeah, I just went on it too and did the same thing — it’s as bas as those “Jesse Camp Fan-sites” that I found while doing the Jesse Camp post for Misc.Asst.
I barely remember the den of the dead website, but I already miss it.
Zombies.
