Teamwork!

Here are some of the words Sierra knows.

Bye bye.
Mommy.
Daddy.
Ball.
Moon.
Sky.

Teamwork.

Wait. What?

Yup. You read that right. Sierra knows the word “teamwork.” I should be afraid - after all, she could be morphing straight from 18-month-old to middle management office wonk. But I’m not.

She’s an avid fan of Nickelodeon’s Wonder Pets, a cute little show that features a duck, a turtle and a guinea pig. The theme of the show is working together as a group to solve problems. “What’s going to work?” they sing. “Teamwork!”

And this is how Sierra knows the word.

In other words, watch what you say. She’s eighteen months. And just like every kid at eighteen months, she’s a sponge.

She’s an adorable, babbling, mostly incoherent sponge.

    I should try that one out. My littlest one is only 8 months now, so I’m sure “teamwork” should be possible. Only problem is, I don’t know if Wonder Pets are already on German TV. Maybe Youtube’ll do.

    As to incoherence: Somewhere on our kitchen wall there still is a short story my older daughter told my girlfriend when she was about 2 years old. I think it started like this: “There once was mother rabbit with three little rabbits and they lived in a rabbit hole…” Some two or three sentences later, the number of little rabbits had doubled, and their adventures were each only about one sentence long.

    But still, “teamworks” just great.

    P.S.: I just wanted to say that I really like this blog. I stumbled across it because of an entry on Blake Schwarzenbach (who seems to have a new band now) and have been reading your blog with great interest since.
