My degree is in &quot;Creative Non-Fiction Writing&quot; and I used to get worked up about whether my non-fiction writing (personal essays, etc) was actually &quot;true&quot;. Now I&#039;ve moved firmly into the camp that believes that all creative writing is more or less fiction, because it is--by its nature--subjective.  There&#039;s fact, and there&#039;s truth, and as long as we&#039;re writing the truth, I don&#039;t think it really matters what genre we tag it with.
