Albums I had never heard until I heard them on vinyl and, OMG, why did it take me so long?

July 5th, 2010

Four albums I’d never heard:

Neil Young – Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Talking Heads – Stop Making Sense
Paul McCartney – Ram
The Concert for Bangladesh

And one album I liked a lot but like even more now that I have it on vinyl:

Pink Floyd – Animals

  1. RE: Neil Young’s “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” — 100x yes. “Down By The River” is an all-time favorite over here.

I would also contend that one hasn’t really heard Led Zeppelin II until it is heard on vinyl. That thing just JUMPS out of the speakers.

  2. I’ve got four or five Led Zeppelin albums on vinyl, and I’m not sure I’ve ever listened to them.

Apparently, I’ve never been in a Zeppelin mood since setting up this turntable.

That being said, I’m listening to II tonight.

Animals was an album that I had to let live in me for a while before I was ready for it. A friend introduced me to it in college, boasting a quality that he considered far above that of Dark Side of the Moon. Years later, I finally understood what he was talking about.
