Misc. Asst. is officially back.

November 22nd, 2007

I’ve gathered some troops and doled out login IDs and passwords. The formation is set.

Ready. Aim. Fire?

Misc. Asst. is back up. Officially, it was never down – but it WAS neglected, ignored and stagnant. Now, it’s none of those things. I’ve written a new post – the first in 18 months!

What is Misc. Asst.? It’s a blog I created for my blogless friends – a place for them to write and post and grab a piece of the blogosphere without actually having to do any work on their own. I like to think I have brilliant friends. So naturally, I also like to think they’re willing to write a lot.

And they were, for a while. But a new job and new priorities curbed my momentum, and with my momentum went everyone else’s.

The difference between BMOWP and MA? BMOWP is my personal journal – my thoughts on the things that mean a lot to me. MA is my sludge pile – my thoughts on things that mean nothing, but trip my fancy at the time: Jesse Camp, former Full House stars on meth, my hatred for Bill Walton’s announcing.

It’s a fine line, really.

So yeah, it’s back. Enjoy. If you’d like to join, let me know. There’s always room, if you’re willing to be semi-active. The address will be changing soon, as will the look (hopefully).

(In fact, if you have a better design in mind, please let me know. The Misc. Asst. site shows you how basic my skills in html/Wordpress theme design were 18 months ago. Any help would be appreciated.)

Go check it out – and thanks!

Trying to pull a phoenix?

November 6th, 2007

I’m sitting at home. Sick, but getting better.

While stumbling around on the Internet, I decided to revisit my old blog, Misc.Asst.

The idea of Misc.Asst. was to get a group of my friends – all people who are funny and smart and have different interests and all of that – together as a community to create a multi-headed blog that, while maybe not a trailblazing venture, could at least keep us occupied for a few hours a week.

It went well to begin with, actually. It was fun. I enjoyed reading through it.

It lasted all of a month, but there was promise. Of the seven people that posted, one switched jobs (that was me – I found myself with less time to dedicate to it), two are without Internet and one no longer posts blog entries on his own blog.

I still think it could work, though. And I’m willing to try it again. I miss it, actually.

With that said – anyone who wishes to post random blog posts without having to worry about running your own site (and I mean random – anything you want) let me know.

Misc. Asst. may be up and running in a few weeks. Long live Misc. Asst.!

Doug on Ports

March 17th, 2006

Finally!

After a brief hiatus, Misc.Asst. is back up with a nice rant from D.B. Rost on self-promoting and anti-terrorist views regarding the Dubai Ports World deal.

What happened next is mind-blowing. Congressmen from both sides of the aisle starting speaking out against DPW controlling these ports and Bush’s decision to support them. I don’t mean that it blows my mind that Democrats would grow spines and speak out against Bush’s decision or even that staunch supporters from his own party decided to buck six years of cow-towing to the president. What pisses me off is the reasons that they give for not wanting DPW to control these ports.

Go check it out!

IT’S ALIVE!

February 10th, 2006

I just wanted to use my post today to do a little cross promotion:

Misc.Asst. is up and running, and it’s even getting constant submissions by a wide variety of people — my good friend Eric (on television and the Super Bowl), my wife Kerrie (on the “Wakin’ Bacon”), and other friends of BMOWP.

Our site host even had an article, but unfortunately I accidentally deleted it. Now I don’t know where it is.

Oh well.

Anyway, you should be visiting daily — even if the other posters don’t post anything, I’ll be there trying to keep it alive (while waiting for all of the other people who said they would contribute… Andy? Les? Amy? Doug? DOUG!! This idea sprouted up because of your desire to be on BMOWP!)

*sigh*

Go visit. Help us out. Be glad you don’t have to listen to membership drives like the National Public Radio member stations are pushing on us now.

At least, not yet.
